Eagles Academy was crowned Champions of the U12 division after beating their rival SWFL in a very close game with good plays from both sides.
The game opener comes from SWFL from a corner play where A. Murillo receives the ball alone, controls it and takes a shot which takes a deflection from J. Quesada and changes the trajectory of the ball where Eagles GK J. Rodas couldn’t adjust. SWFL lead 1-0.
Eagles tied the game from a play that starts from a kick-in from F. Naranjo to H. Vertilius which pivots and plays with L. Bao who controls it and waits for his teammate H. Vertilius to lose the defender and passes the ball back to him where he controls it and turns placing the ball in the far post where SWFL GK S. Domenech couldn’t reach.
The first half comes to an end with a tied game 1-1. In the second half, from a corner play M. Sabogal passes the ball to L. Bao which he controls it and takes an excellent shot to the far post which ends inside the net. Eagles up 2-1.
SWFL tied the game with a goal from N. Javier after well done wall play with P. Leanos increasing the intensity of the game. Level game 2-2.
Eagles are up again 3-2, the play started from the hands of Eagles GK J. Rodas which throws the ball to find L. Bao which controls it in the air and passes to H. Vertilius who then turns and plays with J. Quesada on the right hand side which he then doesn’t waste the opportunity and scores on the far post away from the keeper. Eagles up 3-2.
L. Bao connect once again with H. Vertilius brought the Eagles to a 2 goal lead. L. Bao plays the ball with H. Vertilius from the side which then controls it and guards it from the intense yellow defense and at the same time L. Bao loses his defender and receives the ball from H. Vertilius and toe poe’s it to the back of the net.
H. Vertilius increased the difference making it 5-2 in favor of the Eagles after receiving the ball, guarding it and then turns blasting the ball to the goal where S. Domenech saves it giving a rebound, but once again H. Vertilius takes a rebound shot and places it inside the net.
In the last 2 minutes of the game, S. Domenech comes out of his area trying to help his team passes the ball to P. Leanos which he then tries to cross it to find S. Domenech once again which misses but Aleksandar V. appears from behind and puts it inside the net giving J. Rodas no chance.
The final score was 5-3 in favor of Eagles Academy which stayed with the title in the 2023 summer tournament.
The Top Goalscorer prize also stayed within the academy where Henry Vertilius was top scorer with 19 goals.
